myICLUB.com Enhances Security with Additional Two-Factor Authentication Method
How to secure your investment club account login.
Users of myICLUB.com have long been able to improve the security of their user accounts by opting in to myICLUB.com's two-step authentication system using an emailed verificaiton code. Known as two-factor authentication (2FA), this procedure makes it more difficult for a bad actor to access an individual's account since it requires not only knowing or guessing a password in order to successfully hack an account, but also access to the user's email in order to receive the required one-time code.
myICLUB.com has just enhanced its existing 2FA login system with a new method using the Google Authenticator app. Available for both Android and iOS phones and devices, the free app is a convenient way to get the required one-time code from your mobile phone or device whenever you log in to your myICLUB.com account.
To turn on or off 2FA for your myICLUB.com account, log in to the website, then navigate to the People tab and click on the gear icon next to your name. Click the "Change authentication settings" link on the next page, then follow the instructions by selecting either Email authentication or authentication using the Google Authenticator app.
If you select the Google Authenticator app, you can use the app to scan the barcode on the web page to quickly enable it.
Once enabled, each time you log in to myICLUB.com, you will be asked to enter a code from the Google Authenticator app after you entering your passowrd.
At a minimum, we recommend that all club treasurers and administrators use 2-step authentication. The Google Authenticator is a popular security tool that many users will already be utilizing to protect their credentials on other websites, so this enhancement will make it more convenient to employ improved security practices for their investment club accounts.
