Market value does not match between Valuation and Member Status

When comparing the Market Value figure on the Member Status report and the Valuation, you may notice that they do not match. We have seen several cases where this was caused by entering one or more stock purchases for a given month after the valuation had already been entered.

For example, if you create a valuation on a Tuesday, and remember after the fact that you needed to enter a purchase of a new stock from a week earlier, the stock would show up on the valuation, but it’s market value would not be counted on the member status report.

For this reason, the easiest way to correct this is to delete, and then re-enter any valuations where you notice the difference. To do this takes only a few steps:

Go to Accounting > Securities, and select Edit/delete valuation from the list of options on the left hand side of the page.

Use the drop-down menu to select the first valuation where you noticed a difference in the market value between the valuation and the member status report.

Click Delete, and then Delete again on the next screen.

Once the valuation is deleted, you can simply re-enter it for the same date; go to Accounting > Securities > Create new valuation, and enter a valuation for the same date.
